The 7-inch and 8.9 inch variants of its Kindle Fire HD, along with Kindle Paperwhite, its premium e-book reader have finally been launched in India by E-retailer Amazon.
The 16GB variants of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will be priced at Rs.15.999 ($275) and Rs.21,999 ($379), respectively while the 32GB variants of the same will cost Rs.18,999 ($327) and Rs.25,999 ($448) respectively.
Dave Limp, Vice President of Amazon Kindle proclaimed that Kindle Fire features advanced hardware along with being a service. They hope that Indian customers will find the Kindle Fire HD as the best tablet for a great price with an exciting combination of the leading apps, the largest book collection, fast e-mail, browsing and top rated customer service.
Games, apps and books for the tablet can be purchased at Amazon.com, either in Rupees or USD, depending on the type of card used.
Powered by a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP4460 dual-core processor, the Kindle Fire HD has a 7-inch LCD screen with 1280×720 pixels resolution. The 8.9 version offers a slightly bigger display of 8.9-inch with 1920×1200 pixels resolution, powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP4470 processor.
Both the tablets can be purchased June 27 onwards from Amazon.in or from retail locations including Croma, Reliance Digital and E-zone stores.
