After the remarkable success of Samsung Galaxy S4, the Korean manufacturer is ready to launch the sequels of the booming S4. Out of all Galaxy S4 monikers, the Galaxy S4 Active only seems to be inherited the qualities of its predecessor. Some of the similarities between the S4 and S4 Active are quite striking making them a replica of each other.
With 5-inch display, resolution of 1080 x 1920, a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor with a frequency of 1.9 GHz, an Adreno 320 graphics chip and 2 GB of RAM, both the smarphones look same. A 2,600 mAh battery, Android 4.2.2, an IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and 4G LTE capabilities are also some of the identical features of the two.
What makes the S4 Active different from the S4, are some updated features with an 8 MP main camera, 16 GB of internal storage and a TFT display. The metallic finish of S4 active is quite catchy than the glossy plastic body of the S4.
The SGS4 Active is a jagged device unlike S4, showing IP67 certified dust and water resistance and allowing the handset to survive submerged under 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. The industrial design with visible bolts at every corner of the back panel is quite fancy to watch in S4 active. The “menu” and “back” capacitive buttons of Active have also been replaced by physical ones of S4. The rugged S4 Active is slightly 3 mm taller, 1.5 mm wider and 1.2 mm thicker and 23 grams heavier than the original SGS4.
After ascertaining both the similar and different features of SGS4 and S4 Active, the two phones justify their separate entity and presence in the market. It depends entirely on the users with their specific needs to opt between the two.
