iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Which Of Them Pulls More Web Traffic?

Apple iPhone 5In spite of the flawed mapping software, the iPhone 5 does not really stop to pull customers towards its sleek and stylish design. The fact that Apple managed to sell over five million devices during the first week of its launch stands witness to this fact.

And now as per a latest report by Chitika, mobile ad firm, Apple’s latest sixth-gen iPhone 5 has even surpassed the Web traffic, outdoing its rivals’ Samsung Galaxy S III in less than 18 days.

The findings by the firm Chitika were based on millions of mobile ad impressions from both the devices across the US and Canada, starting Oct. 3rd till 9th.

By Oct. 9th, the firm noted that about 56 percent of impressions were from Apple’s iPhone 5 and 44 percent from the Galaxy S III.

According to Chitika it is the record-breaking sales numbers and the devices’ 4G browsing speeds of iPhone 5 that made way to this growth. However, the news was not really good for the Korean manufacturer, who puts its Galaxy device in direct competition to the Apple’s smartphone.

The report concluded with the fact that iPhone 5 remains the most active smartphone for the users of mobile Web.

However, many analytics company such as Localytics, a mobile app analytics and marketing firm believes that the patent trial between Samsung and Apple has in turn helped boost up Samsung Galaxy’s sales. The firm reported that Galaxy S III sales surged 9 percent each week since Aug. 1.

Interestingly, Samsung also managed to get a clean chit on the sale of its Galaxy Nexus device recently, which the Cupertino Calif.-based firm had asked the US court to ban.… Read the rest

Another iPhone 5 Gaffe, The Aluminium Body Susceptible To Scratches

Apple's iPhone 5Consider yourself lucky if you have your iPhone 5 in hands already! Reportedly, there are still many waiting in the line who pre-ordered their iPhone 5 following days after its launch. The delay, so they say, is caused due to some issue with scratch checks on this latest smartphone, which has slowed down the production lines at Foxconn, which is Apple’s supplier of iPhones.

Following the launch of the iPhone 5, news had crammed up the web, claiming that the device was susceptible to scratches due to the aluminum used in its making. The aluminum in iPhone 5 made the device thin and light but more prone to wear and tear.

Addressing the complaints, Phil Schiller of Apple said that the scratches were normal and that users were holding it in the wrong manner. This didn’t really amuse who splurged a hefty amount to bag this latest device.

Following this, Apple told Foxconn to check the production line that caused the iPhone 5 to be shipped with scratches. And this precaution is what is slowing down the production and supply.… Read the rest

Why Nokia Lumia 920 Scores Over Apple iPhone 5?

Nokia Lumia 920 vs. Apple iPhone 5I love writing. And the best part about my job is getting hands on to the latest devices, even before they hit the market shelves. Getting my hands on both the Nokia Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5 was like receiving two pies from the sky, in my favorite flavor. Both the phones felt great, and I was happily wondering about the discriminating choices we got- all with latest technology, updated apps, and innovative features.

Both the inventive devices gave me the flexibility of either using iOS 6 platform or Windows Phone 8 operating system. Both of them support 4G LTE. To make options clear for you, I am penning down the pros and cons of both the smartphones’ specifications. Going by my personal choice, I feel the Nokia Lumia 920 scores high over the Apple’s iPhone 5. Read on to know why.

Since the introduction of Lumia smartphones, Nokia has not been leaving a single opportunity to show people that their device is way better than Apple’s iPhone 5 and considering some of its reasoning, I do agree.

To start, let’s consider the screen size

Apple hugely publicized its iPhone 5 to have a 4-inch screen, bigger than any of its predecessors. But then obviously, there’s Samsung S3 in the market with a bigger screen size of 4.8-inch. However, back to Lumia 920, the device has a 4.5-inch screen with PureMotion HD and a WXGA IPS LCD and a ClearBack display. Thumbs up for Lumia? Also getting down to pixels, the Lumia boasts of 1280×768 pixels resolution with 326 ppi and iPhone 5 has resolution of 1136×640 pixels with 332 ppi. I am leaving the calculations to you.

Coming down to design

Apple’s iPhone 5 looks great with a sleek body made of aluminum and glass. Added to this device is an additional row of icons on the homepage to fiddle with. On the opposite side, the Nokia Lumia 920 is more colorful with choices of yellow, red, white, black or grey body, so the look is more customized here. I got a red one and it does stand out in looks.

Next in line, camera

A flashy camera completes the picture and for these two phones, it is a tough call. The Nokia Lumia 920 boasts of an 8.7 megapixel rear PureView camera with 1.2 pixels at the front. On the other side, the iPhone 5 has an 8 megapixel camera, which also lets me take pics while I shoot videos. So on camera front, both the devices are in A-front.

Now, wireless charging

The Nokia Lumia 920 comes packed with a special charging pod, making charging a completely tangle free process. Apple’s lightning connector is also the latest and can be inserted upside down. But Nokia’s charging pod is the catch here.

The User Interface

Both the smartphones are easy-to-use and have simple sensitive interface. But in this case too, Nokia takes the lead. The Nokia PureView is great. It has everything including fingertips, fingernails, gloves, and everything else. Surely, Nokia has the technology, whereas Apple doesn’t.

Considering all features, even though Apple has managed to sell over 2 million iPhone 5 devices so far, there’s no doubt that the competition out there is tough. Nokia has all its hopes set to win the smartphone market with its Lumia series and considering all the pros, the phone surely leans me towards it more.

So which one do you prefer? Share your comments with us.… Read the rest

iPhone5’s In-Cell Screen Technology Causing the Delay In Manufacturing Of New Devices

Apple Inc took out its next-gen smartphone iPhone 5 with a thinner, lighter, and sleeker look, which made it sold-out all devices just within 24 hours of its debut.

With this sixth model in its iPhone lineup, Apple for the very first time incorporated in-cell screen technology, which made the iPhone 5 come out with both the display as well as the touch sensor. The components used for in-cell screen are made by LG Display Co. and Japan Display Inc.

This same technology lured as many as five million users to buy the iPhone 5 and it is this in-cell screen technology that is making it a long process for Apple to manufacture the devices and hence, the shortfall.

According to a report in Bloomberg, manufacturing in-cell screens is more “painstaking than earlier screen types, contributing to bottlenecks.”

Because of this, there has been outstrip of supply of iPhone 5 devices, with users made to wait for few more weeks and Apple struggling to keep up with demand.

Apart from in-cell screen technology, Apple is also struggling with the iPhone 5’s new baseband chip. The manufacturing process of these chips has controlled the supplies. These baseband chips let the handset be connected to LTE network.

Apple sold around five million iPhone 5 devices during the first week of its launch. However, reaching a number above that was impossible due to lack of supply.

The iPhone 5 is out in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the United Kingdom. The device will hit 22 more countries on Sept. 28 and more than 100 countries by the end of 2012.

Demand for iPhone 5 exceeded the initial supply. Many pre-orders have been delivered while many are scheduled for October shipment.… Read the rest
